Home Assistant is an open platform that brings the smart devices in your home together in one place.
Instead of using a different app for your air conditioner, lighting, energy meter and other equipment, you can control and monitor them centrally wherever possible.
The big advantage is that you decide yourself how extensive you make it. A simple dashboard with temperature and energy usage is just as possible as a home that's further built out with automations.
Home Assistant can grow into something very extensive, but it certainly doesn't have to. For many people, a solid foundation is already interesting: one central environment where you can, for example, check your air conditioner, heat pump, boiler and energy usage. From there you can always expand later.

No. If you don't know where to start, this is a logical starting point. I take care of the installation and basic configuration, so you don't need to dive into all the technical details beforehand.
That differs per brand and model. Some equipment integrates very well, other equipment not at all or only in a limited way. Beforehand, I check together with you what's possible with your specific equipment.
